Little Acorns is a Registered, Licence-not-Required Home Facility caring for children that attend elementary schools in Richmond. Pickups from schools can be arranged. My after school care is based out of my home in north Richmond.
I accept children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. There may be exceptions to this age range if there are siblings that also require after school care.

Being a mother and grandmother, I know what other parents want – they want their children to grow up to be healthy, loving, responsible, knowledgeable, excelling at school, and of good character.
My child care program aims to combine indoor and outdoor activities to develop their reading, problem solving, social, and personality skills to their full potential.
My after school care routines will always include time to start any homework the children may have. I will provide homework assistance where necessary.
I also would like to help children to develop good habits in personal hygiene, food choices, balance between play and rest, and willingness to help parents and each other.
Registration
Registration will begin one month before the start of the school year.
Returning children and their siblings will receive priority for registration, at least one month before the start of the school year.
After returning children are registered, registration will be year round on a first come first served basis. A non-refundable registration fee of $40.00 will be collected.
Following our interviews with the children and their families and upon acceptance, a $200 deposit is due with registration. The remaining amount is due on the first day of the month and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of the space.
Daily Schedule
Following school pick-up: If weather permits, I want them to get some fresh air and exercise after school. We will do an outdoor activity at a local school playground and field. This may include a variety of sports such as soccer or basketball, skipping rope, games of tag, etc. When weather does not permit, we will do some active indoor games.
Once every two weeks, we will go to the library to borrow books of interest to the children and series on special topic.
After active activities: Snacks – I will serve healthy whole-grain options such as homemade oatmeal muffins or cookies, small egg/cheese wrap on whole wheat pita, crackers, seasonal fruit and vegetables.
After snack to pick-up:
The children will get time to start any homework they have.
If they have no homework, we will continue on with some quiet activities.
Activities will vary according to the day. These may include art such as drawing or painting with water color, pastel, color pencil, and crayons; board games; individual reading; listening to stories; watching special children’s programs on TV. All these are meant to be quiet activities so the children will be calm, happy and ready to be picked up.
